Tin is a malleable, ductile and highly crystalline silvery-white metal. It is not easily oxidized in air because of the protection of tin dioxide (SnO2).
Tin has ten stable isotopes, with atomic masses of 112, 114 through 120, 122 and 124, the largest number of stable isotopes in the periodic table.
More than half of tin in the world is used in solders. It is also used as a protective coating on steels because of its resisting corrosion. And tin-plated metal is commonly used for food packaging as tin cans.
