Foam Metal

Foam metal refers to special metal materials containing foam pores; the diameter of these pores can reach to 7mm. The strength of metal form decreases with increasing porosity, and large deformation is likely to occur under large pressure, so the metal foam has a good function of absorbing energy. The thermal conductivity decreases as the porosity increases. When the porosity reaches 50% or more, the heat conduction is reduced by several tens of times. Thus its conduction to heat becomes very slow. These characteristics make foam metal widely used in energy, transportation, medical, aerospace, and other fields.
