Chromium nitride is an excellent steelmaking alloy additive, has better wear resistance than titanium nitride due to its good physical and mechanical properties. It is the only antiferromagnetic material in nitride. CrN has good adhesion and good corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance. The use of a chromium nitride film on mechanical parts and molds enhances their lubricity and wear resistance. Compared with titanium nitride, it is more resistant to water solutions.
Chromium(III) nitride, Chromic nitrogen(-3) anion
Insoluble in water
- Usually used as a coating material of plastic or metal forms. The coating has the advantage of high hardness, high reliability in dry operations, oxidation resistance and good abrasive wear resistance.
