Diffusion bonded crystals consist of a laser crystal attached to slabs of undoped materials. This high-temperature bonding process allows for minimally reflective interfaces. The slabs of undoped materials improve beam quality and especially reduce the thermal lensing effect with respect to unbonded crystals.

Diffusion Bonding Crystals Description

Diffusion Bonded Crystals (DBC) are crystals consisting of two, three, or more parts with different doping levels or a different doping, usually one laser crystal and one or two undoped crystals combined by optical contact and further bonded under high temperature.
