Proton Exchange Membrane Description
Proton Exchange Membrane for fuel cell, also known as a polymer electrolyte membrane, is a crucial component in PEM electrolyzers used to split water into hydrogen (H₂) and oxygen (O₂) through the process of water electrolysis. This technology enables the production of green hydrogen by using renewable electricity, making it essential in clean energy systems. PTFE (expanded polytetrafluoroethylene) microporous reinforcement material is added to the traditional proton exchange membrane, which has the characteristics of high strength, high conductivity and low ion permeability.
