Proton Exchange Membrane Description
Proton Exchange Membrane for flow battery, also known as a polymer electrolyte membrane, is a key component in flow batteries, especially in vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs) and other emerging types. Its main function is to selectively allow protons (H⁺ ions) to pass between the positive and negative chambers while blocking the crossover of larger ions, active materials, or other unwanted species from one half-cell to the other.
The introduction of special materials during the casting process has improved the strength, durability, and vanadium resistance of proton exchange membranes.
