Proton Exchange Membrane Description
Proton Exchange Membrane (water treatment), also known as a polymer electrolyte membrane, is a key component in flow batteries, especially in vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs) and other emerging types. Its main function is to selectively allow protons (H⁺ ions) to pass between the positive and negative chambers while blocking the crossover of larger ions, active materials, or other unwanted species from one half-cell to the other.
Proton Exchange Membrane uses high-strength polytetrafluoroethylene mesh as the support layer, combined with perfluorosulfonic acid resin with the most suitable molecular weight and ion exchange capacity. It has strong chemical resistance and durability, and is widely used in water treatment fields such as high salt wastewater treatment and electrodialysis.

Proton Exchange Membrane Application
Used in vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs) to enhance ion selectivity and minimize crossover of vanadium ions between half-cells.
Improve efficiency and lifespan by preventing contamination between electrolytes.
Enable efficient ion transport in Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFCs) and Alkaline Fuel Cells (AFCs).
Offer better mechanical strength, increasing the durability of fuel cells under harsh conditions.
- Water Treatment and Desalination
Used in electrodialysis systems for desalination and water purification by selectively removing ions from solutions.
Enhance the lifespan of membranes and reduce fouling in water treatment processes.
Applied in hydrogen production through water electrolysis by allowing selective ion transfer between electrodes.
Provide increased chemical stability and efficiency for long-term operations.
Help in the removal of heavy metal ions or pollutants through ion exchange in industrial wastewater management.
Proton Exchange Membrane Packing
Our Proton Exchange Membrane (water treatment) is carefully handled during storage and transportation to preserve the quality of our product in its original condition.
