All metallic acetates are inorganic salts containing a metal cation and the acetate anion, a univalent (-1 charge) polyatomic ion composed of two carbon atoms ionically bound to three hydrogen and two oxygen atoms (Symbol: CH3COO) for a total formula weight of 59.05. Acetates are excellent precursors for the production of ultra-high purity compounds, catalysts, and nano-scale materials.

Tin (II) Acetate Applications

Tin (II) Acetate (CAS 638-39-1) is used as a precursor in the production of tin anode, Sn-Cu bimetallic nanoparticles and high surface area tin oxide catalysts. It acts as Lewis acid catalysts for the esterification and transesterification reactions. It serves as an efficient catalytic system for carbon-hydrogen activation of the methoxy group of anisole in presence of palladium (II) acetate. It plays an important role in stannous oral care compositions.
