Aluminum Doped Zinc Oxide is a highly insoluble thermally stable aluminum source suitable for glass, optic and ceramic applications. Certain perovskite structured oxides are electronically conductive finding applications in the cathode of solid oxide fuel cells and oxygen generation systems.

Aluminum Doped Zinc Oxide (AZO) was investigated for replacing ITO, e.g., in solar cells, due to the concern of indium shortage and increasing price.
