About Beryllium (Be)

Symbol: Be
Atomic number: 4
Atomic weight: 9.0121831
Element category: alkaline earth metal
As a free element Beryllium is a steel-gray, strong, lightweight and brittle alkaline earth metal.
Beryllium is relatively transparent to X-rays and other forms of ionizing radiation; therefore, it is the most common window material for X-ray equipment and components of particle physics experiments.
Beryllium improves many physical properties when added as an alloying element to aluminium, copper, iron and nickel. Tools made of beryllium copper alloys are strong and hard and do not create sparks when they strike a steel surface.

Stanford Advanced Materials (SAM) now can provide various beryllium products including:

Beryllium metal:
High purity beryllium metal products in the form of sheet, foil, wire, and custom shapes are also available by request.

Beryllium Oxide ceramic (BeO):
We provide beryllia products including heat sinks, crucibles, washers, thermocouple tubing and other custom-made substrates.

Beryllium Copper Alloy:
Beryllium copper, also known as Copper beryllium and Beryllium bronze, is a copper alloy with 0.5~3% beryllium and sometimes with other alloying elements.
