Electrocatalyst

Electrocatalyst is the medium where the electrochemical conversion of chemical energy into electrical energy takes place in fuel cells. It is a specific form of catalyst that functions at electrode surfaces or as the electrode surface itself. An electrocatalyst lowers the activation energy of an electrochemical reaction, lowering the electric potential at which the reaction occurs.
