Incoloy 825 (Alloy 825, UNS N08825) Bar/Rod Description
Incoloy alloy is also a range of superalloys produced by Special Metals Corporation. They are nickel-iron-chromium alloys that are used for applications that require high corrosion-resistant and high-temperature strength. Incoloy alloys are quite similar to Inconel alloys but their different composition makes some distinctions in their applications.
Alloy 825 is a Nickel-iron-chromium alloy with additions of molybdenum, copper, and titanium. The alloy's chemical composition provides exceptional resistance to many corrosive environments. The Nickel content is sufficient for resistance to Chloride-ion stress corrosion cracking. The nickel, combined with molybdenum and copper, also gives outstanding resistance to reducing environments such as those containing sulfuric and phosphoric acid. The molybdenum also aids resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. The alloy Chromium content confers resistance to a variety of oxidizing substances such as nitric acid, nitrates, and oxidizing salts. The titanium addition, with appropriate heat treatment, will stabilize the alloy against sensitization to intergranular corrosion.

FAQs
Q1. What is Incoloy 825 Bar/Rod?
Incoloy 825 Bar/Rod (also known as Alloy 825, UNS N08825) is a high-performance nickel-iron-chromium alloy available in the form of bars or rods. This alloy is designed for use in highly corrosive environments, particularly where resistance to sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and other chemicals is required. It offers excellent resistance to oxidation, carburization, and stress corrosion cracking.
Q2. What are the main applications of Incoloy 825 Bar/Rod?
Incoloy 825 Bar/Rod is used in industries that require high resistance to both corrosion and high temperatures, including:
- Chemical Processing: For reactors, piping, and other components exposed to aggressive chemicals like sulfuric and phosphoric acids.
- Oil & Gas: For offshore platforms, pipeline components, and refineries.
- Nuclear Power: For equipment and components in nuclear reactors and associated systems.
- Pollution Control: In systems designed to control emissions, such as flue gas desulfurization units.
Q3: What are the properties of Incoloy 825 Bar/Rod?
- Corrosion Resistance: Exceptional resistance to sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and chloride stress corrosion cracking.
- High-Temperature Strength: Can withstand temperatures up to 1,800°F (982°C) without losing its strength.
- Oxidation Resistance: Provides excellent protection in both oxidizing and reducing environments.
